To this end, our management will ensure that growth of the company’s revenue streams, will be pursued through the implementation of its Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across all departments. This system is affected by the operationalizing of 14 Management Plans and 8 Environmental Permits.
More specifically KFTL undertakes to set specific measurable achievable realistic and time-bound objectives to ensure full compliance with local environment laws and international policies. KFTL will, therefore, ensure throughout its operational activities, that all forms of pollution will be prevented and mitigated where possible, to ensure sustainability of surrounding ecosystems and their biodiversity. The organization has developed an extensive and detailed plan which was approved by Jamaica’s National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), to guide its activities and the dredging process. An important aspect of this plan focuses on the protection of the interest of fisher folks whose livelihood could be impacted by the dredging activities.
The organization has initiated contact with all the stakeholders who could be so impacted and has been working closely with them to implement preventative measures and to make compensation, if necessary. KFTL is committed to transparency and to the use of best practices in protecting the environment and the interest of all relevant stakeholders in this process.
